PLTW

Cory-Rawson High School will offer students three different Project Lead the Way (PLTW) courses in 2025-2026. PLTW is a STEM curriculum focused on real-world applied learning experiences that are building skills our students will need to thrive in career and college. In addition to PLTW, Cory-Rawson offers valuable experiences to students through our strong agriculture education program, data science, and environmental science offerings.

✅ 7th Grade STEM will transition to PLTW Automation and Robotics, which gives students introductory experience with the design process, construction, and programming as they work on collaborative and authentic projects. They will also explore different aspects of automation and robotics, and experience how solving real-life problems involves the teamwork of mechanical engineers, software developers, and electrical engineers.

✅ In the PLTW Introduction to Engineering Design Course, students develop skills in technical representation and documentation especially through 3D computer modeling using a Computer Aided Design (CAD) application, first as a reproduction of a physical object and then as inventive designs to solve engineering problems. As part of the design process, students produce precise 3D-printed prototypes using an additive manufacturing process and testing protocols will drive decision-making and iterative design improvements.

✅ Digital Electronics, the newest PLTW course to be added at the high school level, will introduce the fundamentals of combinational and sequential logic in addition to engineering standards, technical documentation, and communication practices. Projects will require students to analyze, design, build, and revise digital electronic circuits to perform authentic tasks.

CRHS class scheduling will begin soon - questions can be directed to CRHS counselor Mrs. Barnhart (barnhart@cory-rawson.org).
